Roofing contractor on Staten Island
Full roof replacements for Staten Island homes, two-families and small commercial buildings, including asphalt shingle, flat roof membrane, flashing and gutters.
Roofing & Roof Replacement
Scope of work
A roof is mostly the parts you can't see: the deck, the underlayment, the flashing where the roof meets a wall or a chimney, and the ventilation that keeps the attic from cooking the shingles. We replace all of it, not just the top layer, and we show you what we find once the old roof is off.
Most Staten Island houses have one of two roofs: a pitched shingle roof on a detached or semi-attached home, or a low-slope (“flat”) roof on attached rowhouses, extensions, garages and storefronts. Plenty of homes have both. We install both, so you get one crew and one quote for the whole house.
What's included
- Full tear-off down to the deck, with replacement of rotted or delaminated plywood
- Ice-and-water shield at eaves, valleys and penetrations; synthetic underlayment on the field
- Architectural asphalt shingles with matching ridge and starter courses
- Low-slope roofing (modified bitumen or single-ply membrane, depending on the roof)
- Step and counter flashing at walls and chimneys; new pipe boots
- Ridge and soffit ventilation sized to the attic
- Gutters, leaders and drip edge
- Magnet sweep and haul-away. The yard is left the way we found it.
Local conditions
Roofing on Staten Island specifically
Wind off the water. East and South Shore homes take the wind straight off Lower New York Bay and Raritan Bay. We use the shingle manufacturer's high-wind nailing pattern and seal the starter course, because that's where wind gets under a roof first.
Flat roofs are the leak capital of the borough. Attached homes and extensions often have low-slope roofs that hold water at the parapet or the scupper. We set the slope and the drainage before choosing a membrane. NYC code generally requires a reflective “cool roof” surface when a low-slope roof is replaced, and we'll spec one that complies.
Permits. Whether a re-roof needs an NYC Department of Buildings filing depends on the building and the scope. Structural changes (new framing, adding dormers, changing the roof line) always do. We'll confirm what your job needs before you sign.

FAQ
Roofing questions
How long does a roof replacement take on Staten Island?
Most single-family and two-family shingle roofs are torn off and replaced in one to three working days, depending on size, layers and weather. Flat roofs on attached homes are often a one- or two-day job. We schedule around the forecast and never leave a roof open overnight without protection.
Can you roof over my existing shingles?
Sometimes code allows a second layer, but we usually recommend a full tear-off. It's the only way to inspect and fix the deck, and it gives the new shingles a flat surface to seal on. If your roof already has two layers, it has to come off.
Do you do both flat roofs and shingle roofs?
Yes. Many Staten Island homes have a pitched main roof and a flat roof over an extension, porch or garage. We quote and install both.
Do I need to be home during the job?
No, as long as we have access to the driveway and an exterior outlet. We'll walk the finished roof with you, or send photos if you can't be there.
